The International Network for Christian Higher Education (INCHE) started in Africa in 1975. In celebration, INCHE in collaboration with Daystar University, Kenya is delighted to announce an in-person international conference to be held from 7th – 9th July 2025 at CORAT Africa, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The conference theme is “Strengthening Christian Fabric in African Higher Education”

THEME:

The theme aims to integrate a Biblical worldview and principals into the core of higher education in Africa. It recognizes the importance of character formation, mental health, ethical leadership, and redemptive change in shaping individuals and society. The term "fabric" is used metaphorically to highlight the significance of textiles in African culture: symbolizing identity and culture. The goal is to weave Christian faith seamlessly into all aspects of academic life, including worship, Bible study, student living, clubs, classroom experiences, and community service. By doing so, we seek to create a holistic educational environment that nurtures and strengthens the Christian foundation of African higher education.

The growth of Christian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Africa is mirrored by the rise of corruption and vices that fight against them, increasing negative student attitudes. Biblical integration, weaving the Biblical worldview into every facet of Christian Higher Education, can help combat the growing negativity. While the publication of academic writing about the integration of faith in learning has helped managers of HEIs know WHAT integration of faith is, the ambiguity of HOW to integrate faith and learning has stalled this process in many institutions. This conference will lean into the practical aspects of integrating faith into every aspect of operations.

In the dynamic landscape of African higher education, the integration of Christian values and principles stands as a vital cornerstone for fostering holistic development and intellectual growth. As educational institutions across the continent strive to meet the diverse needs of their students and communities, the reinforcement of the Christian fabric within these institutions emerges as a compelling imperative. By infusing academic pursuits with ethical teachings, moral guidance, and a sense of spiritual purpose, universities not only equip students with knowledge and skills but also nurture their character and sense of responsibility to society. This commitment to strengthening the Christian fabric in African higher education is not only about preserving tradition but also empowering future generations to navigate complex global challenges with integrity, compassion, and faith.
