What began in 1975 at a Conference in South Africa has now turned into a global network of Christian higher education institutions. From July 7 - 9, 2025, representatives of these institutions in Africa and from around the world met in Nairobi, Kenya at the INCHE Africa 50th Anniversary Conference. Hosted by Daystar University and meeting at CORAT Africa, The conference aimed to integrate a Biblical worldview and principals into the core of higher education in Africa. The theme of “Strengthening Christian Fabric in African Higher Education” recognized the importance of character formation, mental health, ethical leadership, and redemptive change in shaping individuals and society. The term "fabric" was used metaphorically to highlight the significance of textiles in African culture: symbolizing identity and culture, with the goal of weaving Christian faith seamlessly into all aspects of academic life, including worship, Bible study, student living, clubs, classroom experiences, and community service. By doing so, participants sought to create a holistic educational environment that nurtures and strengthens the Christian foundation of African higher education.
Speakers, participants, and presenters came from Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. All appreciated the time to connect personally and professionally as well as sharing challenges and opportunities.
Plans for further connections are already underway! The future of INCHE Africa is strong, and they are looking forward to sharing their experience with the rest of the world!
